DIY Ultra Moisturizing Natural Face Lotion

DIY Ultra Moisturizing Natural Face Lotion

Homemade Facial Lotion

Winter is THOUGH on my skin! And this DIY ultra moisturizing natural face lotion is essential for my hands. There is absolutely nothing that can keep my skin hydrated. From head to toe, every inch of my body gets parched during the long winter months.
The only products that efficiently kept my lips, hands, heels, and elbows from cracking were made with petrolatum, something I used my whole life not knowing how toxic it is. Just the thought of lathering a jelly-like stuff made with petroleum on my skin gives me the creeps!
Thank goodness years ago I found out about how toxic the cosmetics industry is and since then have been saving my skin, literally, from the possible damages of carcinogenic chemicals such as petrolatum, phenacetin, coal tar, benzene, formaldehyde, and SO many others! The ingredients in this cream are not only safe but good for you!
I have been experimenting with oils for a while and here is my latest recipe for a super moisturizing cream that can be used all over your body! I even put it inside my nostrils before going to bed so I do not get a bloody nose in the morning from the dry air.

The binder here is vegan, but bee wax works the same way. I prefer a more solid consistency so I can carry in my bag without worrying it will leak all over my necessaire, but I also make a lotion using half the amount of carnauba which is easier to apply on my face.
It is important to add the oils after the wax is melted! Oils have different smoke points, so just to be safe I warm the coconut oil with the wax and add the other oils later. The essential oils are added after the mixture is no longer hot.
Homemade Facial Lotion

Ingredients

2 tablespoons carnauba  or bee wax ( for a smoother consistency use just 1 tablespoon)
2 tablespoons each oil: coconut, almond, avocado and jojoba
1 tablespoon shea butter
1/4 teaspoon argan oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
10 drops Frankincense essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions

You will need a small saucepan with a little water for the bain-marie, over low-medium heat. Using a glass bowl or container ( I use a votive!) add the wax, coconut oil, and shea butter.
Once the mixture is completely melted and clear, remove the bowl from the saucepan and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients, essential oils being the last to be added.
Transfer to tin or glass containers (any containers you want to reuse).
Let it cool at room temperature.
